Description
Different glass thicknesses in one wall to optimize sound insulation. at Positive Footprint Wearhouse in Dorsten Germany.
A 3100 mm high glass partition with excellent stability and sound insulation values. This QbiQ iQ Structural has a wall thickness of 100 mm and is equipped with double glazing consisting of two different glass thicknesses. By using different thicknesses of glass, the wall gets higher noise values than when you build it up with glass of the same thickness.
Glass
Two different thicknesses of glass have been placed in this glass wall. On the office side, a 10.10.a.2 glass panel with a thickness of 20.76 mm was used and on the corridor side is a glass panel of 8.8.a.2 with a thickness of 16.76 mm. Both glass panels are equipped with an acoustic foil that minimizes sound transmission through the glass.
Transparent 0-joint
The glass panels in this iQ Structural 100 are connected to each other by means of a full transparency 0-joint. So there is no need for vertical uprights in this type of partition. E
Doors
Several doors have been used in the wall. The full flush frame door KDD90F has a thickness that is identical to the thickness of the wall. Even the glass of the door runs on both sides of the door in line with the glass of the wall. This creates a calm environment of a completely flat glass partition.
The doors are equipped with double rubbers with a double rebate in the DK100D door frame. This minimizes sound transmission around the door.
At the bottom, the door has a double drop sill. When closing the door, these rubber sills press themselves against the floor so that the gap at the bottom of the door is closed. This prevents sound from moving under the door. This effect is further enhanced by the double version.
Coating
All profiles used are made of black RAL7016 with a gloss level of 30%. The color is added with a powder coating process applied.
Foil
A partially transparent foil has been applied to the glass with visuals supplied by the customer. This film serves to increase privacy while partially obscuring the view.
